ABOUT
Free Fall is a passion project that started during my 3rd year at Marist College in my advanced topics in Unity course. The project started as an assignment for a procedural generation but quickly became much more. The entire game was developed by myself as well as 3D models and VFX trails over the course of one month. My constant goal was to consider an addictive and fun game with infinite replayability.
GAMEPLAY
Procedural Generation
-
Developed procedural generation system for clouds and coins, drawing from their respective object pools.
-
Dynamically determines spawn locations based on the player's position to encourage continuous movement.
Object Pooling
-
Implemented object pooling techniques for clouds and coins, significantly reducing processing power consumption.
Mechanics
-
Progressively increase the player's fall speed over time, intensifying the gameplay and adding difficulty to achieving higher scores.
-
Created screen wrapping functionality to enable dynamic movements across the full length of the screen.
Save System
-
Created a save system to store player's customization choices, coin count, high score, and settings data.
Balancing
-
I have plans to launch a beta on Steam by the end of October, with the intention of collecting valuable player feedback. This input will guide my efforts to fine-tune the game's balance, introduce additional customization options, and finish the game!

GAME DESIGN
Shop System
-
Designed a shop system to enhance the Free Fall experience, offering players a unique and engaging gameplay aspect.
Customization
-
Provided players with the capability to customize their characters by adjusting skin color, wearing hats, and incorporating trail visual effects.
-
All customization options were exclusively created by me.
Visual Effects
-
Utilizing Unity's particle system component, I created visually appealing trail effects and a coin burst.
3D Models
-
Utilizing Autodesk Maya, I designed coins, clouds, hats, hot air balloons, and the player character.
